History :

A small house among the vineyard, face to the Dentelles de Montmirail, build in the middle of the XIXth century on the village of Séguret, just besides Gigondas.

The genuine name "La Jérôme" is thanks to a small and funny anecdote: in the small house was living the Family "Jérôme", and this family was led by ... Mrs Jérôme. As usual in the South of France, the pefix "LA" was used before the first name for high colored characters. At the village, she was called "La Jérôme". This wine is a tribute to that strong but sympathetic character!

Bought at the beginning of XXth century by our family, and today owned by Julien BRECHET, La Jérôme is today a very racy and charismatic Côtes du Rhône Villages wine.

Wine-growing and vinifications are the same as Domaine des Bosquets,. La Jérôme is led too by Julien Brechet and his team, according to the same approach, and profiting by the same care.

Terroir :

The vineyard is mainly planted on clays and sand, just down to the village of Seguret.

Grape varieties:

20 to 30 years old Grenache leads the blend with more than 70%, completed by Syrah. All the vineyard is driven with grass and trellis, to make competition to the vines, and to make walls of leaves and then, provide deep maturities.

Vinification and ageing:

La Jérôme is vinified at Domaine des Bosquets, in Gigondas.

The grapes that enter the winery do so gently, with the valuable help of gravity. Ensuring the grape remains whole enables more progressive extraction. The vatting periods can last longer and the complexity obtained is much greater.

The wines are matured 8 to 12 months, in concrete tanks. They are bottled on the estate in a single operation to help ensure consistency.
